CinemaTech, Inc. is a true story of necessity leading to invention. “Before CinemaTech, the theater seating industry consisted of several suppliers that were converting conventional seating to theater seating. These so-called theater seats lacked style and would surely not hold up due to poor craftsmanship. We found upscale enthusiasts to be extremely frustrated with the lack of high quality home theater seating that was available at the time”, says Michael Murphy – CinemaTech’s president. “In response to the needs of upscale clientele, we contracted Wolfgang Setz, the renowned German seating designer. Together we set out to create home theater seating that combines old world craftsmanship with cutting edge features optimized for comfort and performance.”

Due to the inception of CinemaTech's seating line in 1998, theater seating has been revolutionized. The success of CinemaTech's seating is largely contributed to Wolfgang Setz, who is recognized as one of the major contributors to seating designs over the last decade. His innovative designs, featuring a classic European flair with distinct American influence, coupled with unprecedented German engineering is unmatched for its comfort, luxury, and performance. This has enabled CinemaTech to set the standard for home theater seating, featuring seats that have a classic European flair with a distinct American influence.
Today, CinemaTech offers the perfect solution to the home theater enthusiast with uncompromising standards. CinemaTech's history of seating excellence has earned CinemaTech a clientele list that includes elite business moguls, television personalities, music and movie icons, and professional athletes. Our mission is simple: to meet the expectations of the most discriminating buyers, one seat at a time.
CinemaTech’s seats have been designed from the inside out to provide the ultimate home theater experience. Simply put; steel is superior to wood. There is absolutely no question that CinemaTech's steel mechanism allows for greater performance than any wood frame seat can deliver. As a result, CinemaTech's seating will not only last years longer than alternative seating, but you will also notice that they will continue to feel as though they are brand new year after year.

Only the best materials available worldwide are used in construction of a CinemaTech seat. From our fine leather coverings, to the down-feather filling mixture, all the way down to the full rolled-steel frame; all design and manufacturing details are distinctly apparent in each seating model.
CinemaTech's patented "Lusch" lifting and supporting mechanism has a tubular steel mechanism that is virtually indestructible and provides support and performance that is simply not possible in a static wood frame. The "Lusch" mechanism allows the entire footrest to disappear underneath the seat and provides support of the body at multiple points.
All CinemaTech seats are exclusively handcrafted in Germany to rigorous ISO-9001 standards to provide a lifetime of enjoyment. Features available include select-grade European leathers, fully reclining or inclining seat backs and extendable footrests, and of course custom cup holders. With CinemaTech's original "Articulating Headrest", the movie viewer will appreciate the added comfort and convenience without blocking sound. Leather edges are rolled and trimmed, creating precise seams that are then triple-sewn for extra durability and elegantly tailored appearance. Hand-tied springs and high-density cushions provide the support needed for long-lasting comfort.

All of CinemaTech's Act I models come standard with the company’s unique Pneumatic Reclining Mechanism (PRM) or an optional motorized (electric) reclining system. Both provide exceptionally smooth operation and allow for infinite lockable reclining positions.
Hundreds of
seating configurations are available on each seating model along with various
additional seating options. The wide-ranging possibilities include straight and curved rows, loveseats, sofas, and sectionals. Multiple styles range from traditional to contemporary.

CinemaTech leathers, available in nearly 100 different colors and grades, are carefully hand-selected from the top 15% of hides offered on the European market. For maximum durability, all CinemaTech leathers go through an exclusive, special Valdalphone LongLife process that makes the leathers virtually impermeable to stains. This process does not affect the leather’s hand and ensures that it remains soft and pliable for several years longer than untreated leathers.
