The Products
Why is an ARTICULATING HEADREST so important?
Acoustics are tremendously important for true home theater. Without an articulating headrest you will either block your wonderful acoustics or be left tired from lack of head and neck support. An articulating, "form-fitting" headrest is a must for full enjoyment of your wonderful theater sounds.
What is a "Lusch" mechanism?
Our patented "Lusch" lifting and support mechanism is a steel mechanism that is much like the chassis of an automobile. It allows the footrest to telescope underneath the seat for an elegant style line while providing the comfort of a fine European touring automobile.
How much does a single seat weigh? Do I have to bolt my seats to the floor?
A single motorized CinemaTech Seat weighs approximately 125 pounds. There is no need to ever bolt down a CinemaTech Seat.
I love your seats but don't want leather. Do you offer coverings other than leather?
CinemaTech Seating is happy to use your own selected fabric (COM) or we can create a pallet of fabrics for your individual selection.
Can I add motors after I order my CinemaTech Seating?
No, the housing to hold the motor is welded to the steel frame of the seat at the time of manufacturing.
Why would I use a wedge instead of a straight arm between seats?
Curving or creating a radius in your seating produces an intimate and relaxed atmosphere.
My Home Theatre
What size platform do I need?
Typical platform size is 72 inches, although if need be, you can reduce this area.
How much space do I need between rows?
We recommend anywhere between 30-40 inches between rows.
How much power do the motors require? Do I need to have high voltage electrical capability?
No you do not need high voltage; CinemaTech motors are low voltage and require only 2.5 amps per seat.
Will everyone be able to see the show clearly?
Sight lines should be considered; staggering the seating between rows and the use of a riser greatly enhances sight lines.
How tall is a riser?
Risers are typically 6-12 inches in height; a higher riser may result in requiring a two tier walk way. It is a good idea for your installer to check any possible building code requirements.
How can I avoid tripping over wires?
An excellent place to "hide" electrical outlets is in the riser between rows. A small overhang from the top of the riser acts as a "hood" to conceal wires.
How do I make room for my children without having a seat for each of them?
If you have younger children, a love seat or sofa (Standard CinemaTech product) is a great way of getting more young people in the theater -- a great place for a short nap too!
How will I navigate the room during the show without raising all the lights?
Track lighting on the floor helps guests enter and exit your theater without having to disturb other people.
How can I get a feel for what a layout will really look like?
"Chalking" your theater is a great way to get a true feel of space in your theater.
Will I lose reclining ability in the last row if it is placed near the wall?
If you would like to place a row of your seats against a wall, table, etc, you should consider using our incliner seating models. This will allow you to place your seating just four to six inches from a back wall, table, etc. An alternative solution would be to limit the maximum reclining position of your back row. This is easily modified on site to the exact position necessary but is only possible on non-motorized models.

I am over 6 feet tall and most seats do not support me. Does CinemaTech have an answer?
Yes, CinemaTech Seating's Valentino and Majestic are available in our PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE (PA) style. The PA is a full 4 inches taller.
Can we order a love seat or sofa?
Yes, all CinemaTech Seating is custom ordered. You may specify ANY seating combination you desire.
I'm short and sometimes have difficulty seeing past people sitting in front of me. How can I avoid this at home?
Typically, chairs are staggered from row to row. Another option is to add a riser for optimal viewing pleasure.
How can I know that I will be able to see the screen from the back row?
The screen height is typically 48 inches above floor level and your head is usually 36-40 inches above floor level in the front row. With a 6 inch riser for the second row, your head will be 42-48 inches above the floor, which puts your eyes even with the bottom of the screen.
If You Already Own CinemaTech Seats
The leather on my CinemaTech seats is beautiful. How do I keep it looking like new?
- Leather should be routinely wiped (twice a month) clean of dust and other dirt to prevent cracking. Do not use dusting agents, such as spray polishes. A cloth, lightly dampened with warm water and Ivory soap, will suffice.
- In addition to routine wiping, leather should be cleaned using a leather care kit twice a year. Stains, such as food, soda, beer, ink, etc., should be cleaned immediately with the leather care kit.
- If the seats "squeak" during movement, leather polish should be applied to leather areas that rub against each other.
- If leather seems to be excessively wrinkled in certain areas, it is possible to remove some of the wrinkles by using a hair dryer. Holding the dryer approximately 7 inches from the leather, set dryer to warm and use sweeping motions across the wrinkled area until leather tightens.
